"As Chancellor, I have made it a priority to strengthen and increase awareness of the practices on our campus for preventing and responding to sexual violence and sexual harassment. These harmful behaviors have a deep impact on survivors and on the community. Sexual harassment and sexual violence are fundamentally at odds with our society’s principles of equality and fairness, and with the mission of our university: to draw on the talents of the entire community to promote creativity and intellectual growth"
-Chancellor Carol Christ

Campus Leadership and Coordination

The campus network of offices, groups, and administrators with responsibility for SVSH prevention and response is highly complex, distributed across many different parts of campus.

Special Faculty Advisor to the Chancellor on Campus Welfare

In 2017, Berkeley became the first of the UC campuses to dedicate a cabinet-level senior administrative position - the Special Faculty Advisor to the Chancellor on Sexual Violence/Sexual Harassment (“SVSH Advisor”) - to coordinate the range of SVSH resources on campus and serve as a liaison between the Chancellor’s office and the rest of the campus community. Since then, the position has been retitled as the Special Faculty Advisor to the Chancellor on Campus Welfare, reflecting the impact that SVSH has on campus welfare and its close relation to other issues of climate and wellbeing.

Coordinated Community Review Team (CCRT)

Appointed by the Chancellor, the Coordinated Community Review Team (CCRT) provides advice and guidance to campus leadership on issues related to the prevention of and response to sexual and interpersonal violence and harassment.

SVSH Core Team

The SVSH Core Team, formerly called “Title IX Working Group,” is a smaller, more tactical group of key campus partners whose focus is on continuous improvement of strategic communications, information sharing, and best practices.

The SVSH Annual Report, MyVoice Survey, and other campus data

SVSH Annual Report

The Annual Report on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment (SVSH) is commissioned by the Chancellor of UC Berkeley and published by the office of the Special Faculty Advisor to the Chancellor. Each Annual Report on SVSH describes the current state of campus SVSH prevention and response efforts, in the context of its history and aspirations for its future.

MyVoice Survey

In 2018, UC Berkeley’s campus community had the opportunity to share their experiences, beliefs, norms and knowledge regarding sexual violence and sexual harassment through the MyVoice Survey, a major initiative involving the entire campus community (students, faculty, and staff). The MyVoice Survey was designed and implemented by the UC Berkeley MyVoice Working Group in partnership with NORC, an independent research group based at the University of Chicago.

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The Annual Security & Fire Safety Report for University of California, Berkeley is offered in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act and contains fire safety, crime statistics and policies. This report is published by UCPD. You may use this document to learn more about the many safety and security services and resources available at UC Berkeley.

CalGreeks and Safety

Weekly or biweekly communication occurs between the Leadership, Advising, and Development (LEAD) Center (the office supporting student leadership, including the CalGreeks community), Berkeley Police Department, and Berkeley Fire Department enabling the groups to share information and coordinate services. You can read the CalGreeks and Safety factsheets they publish annually on the SVSH Annual Reports & Data.
