Where to get information about the new Title IX regulations
On May 6, 2020, the U.S. Department of Education issued long-anticipated Title IX regulations detailing how schools across the country must respond to complaints of sexual harassment, including sexual violence. These rules will not go into effect until August 14, 2020. At this time, campus procedures remain the same as they have been. We all are in the position of trying to understand what the impact of the new rules may be, once they go into effect.
Regardless, as President Napolitano has stated on behalf of all UC campuses:
"UC... will continue our hard-won momentum through education, prevention, and processes that are fair and compassionate to all parties. We remain steadfast in our commitment to our students and community, and will respond to the rules with care and thoughtfulness.”
Many in the UC community have expressed anxiety about the new regulations. If you have concerns about a process you’re currently in, or questions about making a new report, please reach out to the resources listed on this website.
