New Title IX Regulations

Where to get information about the new Title IX regulations

In May 2020, the U.S. Department of Education issued long-anticipated Title IX regulations detailing how schools across the country must respond to complaints of sexual harassment, including sexual violence. These rules went into effect on August 14, 2020. Both the Systemwide Title IX Officer and administrators at UC Berkeley have issued statements about the impact of these changes.

[T]he University will continue to prohibit all forms of misconduct previously prohibited by the SVSH Policy, and to treat allegations of misconduct with uninterrupted seriousness and care. The scope of the SVSH Policy is unchanged, as is our commitment to preventing and responding to reports. - Suzanne Taylor, Systemwide Title IX Director, Letter to Chancellors on 8/14/2020.
