Berkeley is unique in the University of California system in having a Special Faculty Advisor to the Chancellor. This office of two helps coordinate and communicate the work of campus-wide programs focused on preventing and responding to SVSH.

About the SVSH Advisor Office

The position of Special Faculty Advisor to the Chancellor on Sexual Violence/Sexual Harassment, currently held by Professor Sharon Inkelas, was created in 2017 on the recommendation of the Chancellor's Senate/Administration Committee on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment.

The faculty member who holds this position serves as the campus lead for the University’s efforts in providing a safe working, learning, and living environment for students, faculty, and staff that is free from gender-based discrimination. The Office collaborates with a diverse network of campus and community partners to lead, coordinate, and support data-driven efforts on campus to prevent and respond to sexual violence and sexual harassment. The Special Faculty Advisor reports directly to the Chancellor, and publishes an annual report on SVSH.
