Service Utilization: OPHD, PATH to Care Center, Social Services (2017-23)

The plentitude of campus data pertaining to SVSH creates a unique opportunity to track trends via multiple lenses: reports to OPHD, reports to UCPD, utilization of confidential resources, and survey data. Figure 29 tracks SVSH trends in service SVSH utilization at OPHD, the PATH to Care Center, and Social Services from the first SVSH annual report (2018) to the present. For OPHD, Figure 29 reflects the total number of SVSH reports made each year. For PATH to Care, Figure 29 tracks the total number of individual clients who received advocacy services each year. For Social Services, Figure 29 shows the total number of individuals (both survivors and respondents) who sought support for issues related to SVSH each year.

Please note that data from the PATH to Care Center was not available in the 2021-2022 academic/fiscal year.

OPHD reports declined from 446 in 2017-18 to 272 in 2020-21, but increased to 597 in 2022-23. PATH to Care was relatively steady over that time, with 315 clients in 2017-18 and 316 in 2022-23. Social Services dropped from 281 in 2020-21 to 113 in 2022-23

Figure 29: Trends in SVSH service utilization: OPHD, PTC, Social Services (2017-2023)

All three units reported a spike in SVSH cases or clients in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic/fiscal years, compared to previous years. Caseloads dropped for all three years in 2019-2020, corresponding to the campus closure due to the pandemic outbreak. The post-pandemic trends differ by unit. For the two confidential resources, client cases returned to pre-pandemic levels in 2020-21, but OPHD continued to see low figures that year. In the following two years, OPHD saw dramatic increases, PATH to Care continued at previous levels, and Social Services saw a dramatic decline (attributed, as mentioned above, to staffing shortages).
