Background

In 2017, UC Berkeley received a $300,000 grant from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), a federal office that grants universities funds for prevention education, victim services, and to develop a Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT).

In 2020, the UC Berkeley campus received a $300,000 continuation grant from OVW to expand on existing programs and to introduce new projects to the campus. One of the deliverables from the continuation grant was to develop and apply a Collective Impact framework into UC Berkeley’s CCRT.

In collaboration with various campus partners, a Collective Impact Research Team was developed and transformed into an informal ‘Backbone’ of the project. The team attended conferences, listened to podcasts, researched professional development webinars, interviewed Collective Impact practitioners on and off campus, and infused elements of Collective Impact into the CCRT and other projects.
