Collective Impact (CI) is a framework through which a diverse group of stakeholders address complex social problems by aligning and integrating their work.
The five conditions of Collective Impact
Research shows that successful collective impact initiatives typically have five conditions that together produce true alignment and lead to powerful results:
- A common agenda: Collectively defining the problem and creating a shared vision for change.
- Shared measurement systems: Aligning methods of tracking progress for continuous learning and progress.
- Mutually-reinforcing activities: Breaking down silos to align actions for maximum impact.
- Continuous communications: Building and strengthening trusting relationships among participants.
- Backbone support: Having a dedicated team to coordinate efforts.
