Incoming Protected Category discrimination and harassment reports (other than SVSH) made to OPHD (2022-23)

The University of California prohibits discrimination on the basis of the following Protected Categories:

  • Gender
  • Gender expression
  • Gender identity
  • Gender transition status
  • Pregnancy and related conditions
  • Physical or mental disability
  • Medical condition (cancer-related or genetic characteristics),
  • Genetic information (including family medical history)
  • Ancestry
  • Marital status
  • Age
  • Sexual orientation
  • Citizenship
  • Service in the uniformed services, including protected veterans

The UC Anti-Discrimination Policy (draft as of October 2023) defines Prohibited Conduct and explains the procedures that the University uses to resolve reports. At UC Berkeley, the Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination (OPHD) is responsible for promptly and equitably resolving complaints of discrimination and harassment. Additional support resources for those who experience Protected Category discrimination or harassment are provided by a variety of campus units in a large, distributed network. The data in this section reflects only reports made to OPHD. Future reports may also include data from other campus units providing support.
