Types of SVSH allegations reported to OPHD (2022-23)

Out the 649 total SVSH allegations reported to OPHD, sexual harassment constituted the largest subcategory (41.4%), followed by sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking. Conduct that fell within the UC SVSH Policy's definitions of "Other Prohibited Behavior" made up 7%. Sexual exploitation made up the smallest subset of allegations at 2.5% (Figure 7).

The “Sexual Harassment” category in Figure 7 is complex, including allegations of “Sexual Harassment - Hostile Environment”, “Sexual Harassment - Quid Pro Quo”, and “Sexual Harassment - Unspecified”. As shown in Figure 8, the majority of sexual harassment allegations reported to OPHD involved the creation of a hostile environment (84%).

The “Sexual Assault” category depicted in Figure 7 includes the subcategories of “Sexual Assault - Contact”, “Sexual Assault - Penetration”, and “Sexual Assault - Unspecified”. As shown in Figure 9, of the 184 “Sexual Assault” allegations, the majority (59.8%) were sexual assault unspecified, followed by “Sexual Assault - Contact” (22.8%) and “Sexual Assault - Penetration” (17.4%).

The “Other Prohibited Behavior (OPB)” category in Figure 7 encompasses several other allegation types, including “Indecent Exposure”, “Invasion of Sexual Privacy”, “Retaliation”,  and violations of non-contact directives or other exclusions. As shown in Figure 10, the most common alleged behavior in this category was the invasion of sexual privacy, making up 47.8% of the 46 OPB allegations. 26.1% of the OPB allegations involved retaliation related to SVSH cases, while 17.4% involved indecent exposure. Violations of no-contact orders or other exclusions made up 8.7% of the OPB allegations.
